I have a Sony HD Ready TV, and as you may know, all HD Ready LCDs have a resolution of 1360×768 and mine has 1:1 Pixel Mapping for certain resolutions, so I wanted to configure it to 1360×768 to get the best image quality at the maximum size.
First I tried to connect it through VGA, but the maximum size it’s 1280×768. Then I connected it using a DVI to HDMI cable and what was my surprise when I found that it was only working at 1080i, no matter the selected resolution .
I couldn’t stand 1080i because the difference in Image Quality between 1080i and the native resolution (1360×768) is abysmal, there’s also overscan (like in 720p) and when using it at 1360×768 it works at full RGB range like a PC monitor, so I spent several minutes changing configurations in the nVIDIA Control Panel until I found all the options needed to be changed to make it work flawlessly at 1360×768 using the HDMI input.
